Kinship

August 31st, 2011

You wouldn’t think solitude could help you connect with people while you’re in solitude, but it can. In my case, I happen to live hundreds of miles from family and our time zones differences don’t always make for easy phone calls.

Sometimes when I’m walking along in the evening, I’ll be overtaken by a sense of connection to someone I care about, especially someone who lives far from me, like my mom. That connection is always there of course, but getting alone provides enough internal quiet to feel it.

Whose support do you feel in solitude?
