Find a Place

January 23rd, 2012

Whether you’re a writer, a musician, a meditator, a sketcher, a pray-er, find a place.

Find a place to go. Outside your house. Somewhere new.

This weekend, my words were there! Waiting to be put to paper. I just had to get away to let them out. I found places to write where I could hear nothing but my fingers typing. I encourage you to find a space this week. Is there a book in your head? a poem? a song? a painting? a sculpture? a letter? Is there a stretch in your body? a walk? a rub-down? a soak? a meditation?

Steven Pressfield writes in the amazing book (that all artists ought read), The War of Art, we have to show up. And that literally means putting ourselves in a physical space where we get away from all the crap that creates so much damn noise we can’t hear our creativity anymore.
